The Central Bucks Swim Team-SAL (CBST-SAL) is a competitive Age Group swimming and diving team that competes in the Suburban Aquatic League (SAL) which consists of teams from Bucks, Montgomery, and Delaware Counties. SAL is divided into two conferences: National and American. See more detailed information about the SAL below. The CBST-SAL season begins in early October with practices and ends in late January or early February. Swim practice length is either 60 or 90 minutes depending on age. There are generally five CBST-SAL swim practices offered per week. Timing of these practices is between 5:30 and 9:00pm depending on age and time of year. CBST-SAL will compete in five total regular season dual meets (see definition below) during November and December. CBST-SAL will also compete in two championship dual meets in January. Dual meets are generally on Saturdays. Individual championship meets are held in late January or early February on weekends. Other optional invitational meets for which additional payments will be required are available to CBST-SAL swimmers throughout the season on weekend days.
Each conference is divided into two divisions. The American conference has the East and Central divisions and the National conference has the North and West divisions. CBST-SAL competes in the Central division of the National conference. For more details about the league visit the league website at http://suburbanaquatic.org
During the course of the season, CBST-SAL will compete in dual meets. A dual meet is simply a meet that involves two teams. Regular season meets occur in November and December and are typically against teams in our own division. The team season ends with Conference and League Finals Dual Meets in January. Individual swimmers can then compete in Championships. There are two Championship meets: League or "A" and Division or "B". "A" Championships is the league individual championships and only swimmers with the top 18 times (plus 2 alternates) in the entire league in each event are eligible for "A" championships. Swimmers can track their overall league standings at the SAL website by following the Top 40 Lists link. ALL swimmers are eligible for "B" championships (but cannot swim in events for which they qualify for "A" championships; there is a limit on the combined number of entries for "A" & "B" Championships). The "B" Championships are divisional: each division holds a championship meet. For "A" and "B" Championships, swimmers are seeded according to their best times for a particular event. "A" and "B" championships are individual competitions only (No team competition).
Note> The predecessor teams of CBST-SAL are CBAC (Central Bucks Aquatic Club) and SWAC (Southwest Aquatic Club). CBAC began in 1969 and SWAC began in 2005. Until 2005, CBAC was the team for all Central Bucks swimmers and divers wishing to participate within the SAL. Starting in 2005 with the opening of CB South High School (so the availability of a second pool in the district), CBAC divided into CBAC (for athletes districted to CB East high school) and SWAC (for athletes districted to CB South and CB West high schools). Starting with the 2018-2019 season, the teams have again been combined based on participation levels and will compete going forward as one team within the SAL (CBST-SAL).
